Rughooking
Workshop Information
Available Dates
In this class you will learn the technique of Rughooking to create your own piece with a simple design, from just hessian and waste fabric, which could become a small mat, picture, seat pad, bag, etc. All materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you would like to use them in your project.
Making rag rugs is the ultimate sustainable textile craft, having originated centuries ago when worn out clothing and discarded textiles were used to create functional floor coverings for warmth and protection. It’s simple, needs minimal equipment and colourful fun results can be made quickly. . You probably won’t finish your project in a day, but full instructions will be given on how to complete your chosen outcome.
