In this class you will learn the technique of Rughooking to create your own Spring Flower themed piece which could become a small mat, picture, seat pad, bag, etc. from hessian and waste fabric. All materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you would like to incorporate them into your project. A £5 cost will be payable directly to Jill on the day.
Making rag rugs is the ultimate sustainable textile craft, having originated centuries ago when worn out clothing and discarded textiles were used to create functional floor coverings for warmth and protection. It’s simple, needs minimal equipment and colourful fun results can be made quickly. . You probably won’t finish your project in a day, but full instructions will be given on how to complete your chosen outcome.
Requirements
Sharp scissors
Rug hook. (nb: NOT a latch hook) you will need a Primitive or American style Rug Hook. There will hooks available on the day to borrow and/or purchase.
