Mariners Compass – 2 day Quilt measures 83” x 91”
Mary Dennis as part of her dowry originally made this coverlet in 1828. Mary, a farmer’s daughter from Devonshire, married Richard Cann. The couple had six daughters and one son with the quilt remaining in the family through the generations. The quilt now forms part of the collection of The Quilters Guild of the British Isles.
The pattern is included and the acrylic templates will be available to buy from Karen.
Requirements
5.5 m Background
1.6 m Yellow triangle border
50 cm pink stripe, saw tooth border
6 m in total of assorted fabrics for diamonds and appliqué
1 Elizabeth’s dowry Mariners Compass panel
60 cm binding
You will also need –
Basic sewing equipment – scissors, pins, etc
Rotary cutting equipment – ruler, cutter and mat
Sewline pencil or fine marking pencil
Template plastic
Neutral thread for hand or machine piecing
Sewing machine if necessary
