Little Landscapes – Sheena Norquay
Workshop Information
Create a pieced landscape with seasonal or imaginary colours using small and large scale prints and plain fabrics. Use a photo or picture to inspire colours and patterns. Advice will be given on final fabric and colour selection. The pattern for a “strata” style of landscape will be provided but students can add their own details. Help will be given with composition and drawing of details. Designs in the fabrics can be extended into the borders with embroidery or quilting techniques. Shapes of curved seams can also be used as guidelines for extending quilted lines into the borders. Techniques include curved and straight line piecing using templates, walking foot and free machine quilting and/or hand quilting. Optional techniques for details include fabric painting, free machine embroidery and appliqué, hand embroidery and appliqué. Finished size of piece can vary between A4 and a fat quarter. A basic knowledge of free machine stitching is helpful but not essential.
