I Love Quilting Till The Cows Come Home – Jo Colwill
Workshop Information
Forget making the ‘bits’ match, this is just free cutting strips each side of your 6″ ruler and purposely not matched! You can add the odd pieced house or applique or just make a simple quilt. Experiment with different quilting stitches. Use up bits and pieces of fabric and have a good day! I have a new machine quilted version and also a cosy flannel version. This is suitable for beginners or the more experienced to take as far as you like. From simple beginnings, a good way to learn about piecing and expand your quilting either by hand or machine.
Students requirements
Basic sewing kit to include: paper and fabric scissors, pins, sewing threads to match or grey or colour to blend with all, for piecing, also to match your appliqué fabric
Sewing machine, in good working order with instruction manual
Template card, fine black felt pen, Pritt stick or glue, pencils and note book
Fabrics: You will need approximately 3 metres in total made up of scraps, whatever colours you like, including stripes and checks and all different fabrics. I like mine to be rustic but you don’t have to do the same. You will also need a motif or fabric for appliqué – I usually tend to use folksy colours. I have a few printed cows, but you could bring a small printed panel (6” or 8” square, we can cut down a larger panel) of any picture you like, ie flowers, cats, etc, or you could appliqué a cow
Bondaweb, for quick appliqué if you prefer, but this will be available
Quilting threads: cotton perle or Guterman (probably not used on the day, but I will recommend how to quilt and what to use)
