Christmas Ribbons and Swags – Maggie Colwill

Due to popular demand Maggie is back to help you create your own personal decorations to adorn your home for the festive season.  Using seasonal foliages you can make your swag, welcome door wreath, topiary, table/candle arrangement.  By using your individual components eg cones, baubles, flowers, orange slices etc you will create a bespoke decoration.  Come along and enjoy the festive work room filled with arrangements, aromas of pine, cinnamon, cloves, festive candles, coffee and have fun!
STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
·      A good selection of evergreen foliage e.g. Bay, Eucalyptus, Holly, Conifer, Box etc also Larch, Silver Birch and contorted/twisted willow twigs can be useful.
·      Condition foliage by standing in water overnight. To dry orange slices, slice thinly and place on baking tray in a warm airing cupboard, on a radiator or in a warm (but not hot) oven and check each day!
·      Any baubles or decorations – such as wooden or fabric hearts or stockings to incorporate. Fresh cranberries, dried orange, apple, lime slices, cinnamon sticks, nuts, star anise, fir cones, moss,  clementine’s,  lemons, apples, plus any fresh flowers if desired.
·      Gold spray. Ribbons, candles etc Twine & Scissors- with names on please
·      Containers i.e. basket, box, plant pot, jug, wreath, candle stick or wire basket etc
·      Measurement of door or fireplace (if making a swag or garland to fit) plus maybe a piece of fabric to match a colour theme.
A small range of pots, ribbons, containers, chicken wire, stub wires, topiary bases, oasis rings, vine rings and oasis will be available for purchase on the day.  It would be helpful if you could pre-order oasis rings, either 10” or 12” or topiary bases, stating approx height.
