Appliqué with Margaret Sampson George

We’re sew happy Marg has 2 more days teaching! On these days you will be able to start any of the quilts ‘Gentlewoman’s Sampler’, ‘Grace’ or ‘Small Victories’ or Margaret is happy for you to work on any of her projects. ‘Gentlewoman‘s Sampler’
I made this quilt ( approx 68 ins square) to use a piece of embroidery given to me by a dear friend! It’s actually one of a set of embroidery panels designed by French General a few years ago but you could use any embroidery or even a piece of fabric for the centre. The remainder is made from different neutral linens and 3 or 4 different blues. Fabric for applique was cut from a large print floral.
Grace ( named for my late Mother)
This needs about a zillion 1 1/2 ins regular diamonds. You can paperpiece or stitch traditionally. Each 9-piece diamond is surrounded by Parallelograms and a connecting diamond. A feature fabric is lovely for a centre if you have something special.. a toile maybe? I can supply parallelogram papers plus template if required.
Priscilla 
I have included Priscilla because she can be done by hand and machine!! ( machining at home .. not in class unless there is heaps of room) I  made it to re-use the templates from Mirabella. The centre star is done over papers which I can bring!
Small Victories 
If you love applique and love searching for “ special” little motifs you will love this ! Its a coverlet and the scalloped edge makes for a great border . The motifs are all quaint shapes representing old medals and awards! I found the ones I have  used on wrapping paper, wallpaper and pintrest. Its done in four separate pieces around a 14 ins centre so you need a lot of fabric!!!
