The Potager

In this workshop we will be exploring and practising  stitches suitable for an embroidery of a Potager ( an ornamental kitchen garden with vegetables, flowers, herbs and fruit) There will be an emphasis on texture and combining stitches to make pleasing patterns for a formal garden.

I will make up kits to make two projects – the first is a sampler to work on during the day which can be made into a pretty bookmark and give you references for the stitches. The second will be a larger piece of embroidery ( fabric included)in which you can design a Potager ( I will give you examples) and for you to continue with after the workshop. This time I am not including any threads in the kits so please bring your own. I suggest stranded and Perle threads in a variety of weights and in colours suitable for the Potager. However if you are not sure about threads  I will be bringing lots of different threads and you are very welcome to try them out during the day, before you buy any more.

This is a one off workshop suitable for all abilities so don’t worry if you haven’t done any hand embroidery recently. My other workshops this year will be a garden theme too – a potting shed and a colourful flower border.
