MIMOSA JELLY ROLL QUILT

Available Dates

Grab a jelly roll and make this stunning quilt.

Can you believe that this quilt is made using only squares and rectangles cut from a jelly roll.  We used the gorgeous Tilda range Songbird with its subtle colouring in blue, green and pink.  It meant there was not such a strong contrast between our darks and lights which created a very special quilt that we absolutely loved.

Jo will have the Tilda Songbird range in the shop by February or you can choose a different colour scheme entirely.

SUITABLE FOR CONFIDENT BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATE QUILTERS

REQUIREMENTS

Sewing machine with full bobbin

Normal sewing kit

Rotary cutting equipment

Fabric requirements for the Mimosa quilt (64in x 64in):

  • one jelly roll
  • long quarter of a co-ordinating fabric cut into three 2½in x 42in strips as you need a total of 43 2½in strips for the Mimosa quilt
  • 8m background fabric (we used a solid cream)
  • 75m border fabric (not needed on day)
  • 5m binding fabric (not needed on day)

Sorting your jelly roll strips

Sorting your jelly roll strips can take time so if you can try and do this before the class it will save time.  Do not stress about this however as we can choose together at the start of class.

Artistic licence can be used when choosing your strips.

  •  Choose 13 blue/green strips for the blue/green star points
  • Choose 8 pink strips for the pink star points
  • Choose 12 dark strips for the four-patch centres of the stars
  • Choose 10 light strips for the four-patch units in the sashing

I look forward to seeing you on the day and if you have any questions before class please contact me on pam_lintott@hotmail.com.
