Show us what you collect Join Mother and daughter Primmy and Jessie Chorley for a two day inspirational workshop concentrating on creating your own story using items from your own collections. As you know we are great collectors ourselves We would like you to bring items from your own collections to inspire and to create a starting point for yourself on the day. You will be creating a textile based piece of working inspired by both Jessie and Primmys work, so you will be working with collage, appliqué , and most importantly hand embroidery techniques. The items that you bring from your own collections will vary depending on who you are, you may bring a collection of old children’s clothes purely as inspiration and you will use these to start a story or you may embroider your story straight in to them…or you may bring your Mums old sewing box full of her old buttons, thimbles , lace etc and you may actually use these items as objects to start a collaged and appliqued work. perhaps you have a collections of old letter that belonged to someone special in your family you could take simple words from these as inspiration or work directly stitching in to them incorporating fabrics as you go….. Essential items that you should bring:-Take the time between now and the workshop date to think about what you love to keep and to collect at home and bring these items with you on the day.-We will be working a lot in stitch so be sure to bring lots of fabric scraps any colours and any sizes but just things that you think will work together to create a background, odd things are always fun old cushion covers or a worn pair of curtains from home.-Embroidery thread or wools-Odd buttons, lace, ribbons things you have in your sewing basket
