Summer Garden Appliqué – Jo Colwill

Workshop Information

Price: £79.00

A new look at appliquè and piecing similar to washed and worn/vintage, either use traditional needle turn or raw edge, I prefer this to bonded but you can choose. Starting with a central panel of appliquè building out and around. I am also finishing my union jack quilt called ‘All the Queens Horses and all the Queens Men’ so lots of ideas either to make a quilt, throw or summer table cloth. Different stem techniques, vintage buttons and ric rac ideas, either follow my quilt or take as inspiration.

• If wishing to make a central basket you will need approx  50” of either calico or subtle pattern, or we will show you how to put lots of pieces together to make a pieced background this block can be used centrally or off centre, and be surrounded by smaller appliqué blocks and bits of lace and old linen etc, bits of ticking or you can follow a more formal design with pieced borders.
• I don’t want the requirements to sound vague but I also want you to use all your bits and pieces and have fun so bring anything you like and we will sort!!!
• You can also use ric rac or vintage lace in a seam.
• Possibly it is good to come to the first class with what you have and see what is on offer as we are working on some of the quilts at this time.
