Toran Hanging – Indian Styled Kantha Bunting – Tricia Warman
Workshop Information
A Toran is a traditional hanging seen in Indian households. It is usually displayed over a doorway arch, window etc. Often these banners are “leaf” shapes but could be oblong triangular or square joined together at the top to creates a row of shapes. We will begin to construct a Toran by selecting a shape. Each shape will be individually designed ,stitched, embellished. You may like to incorporate an image on each “flag/leaf” which is significant to you personally or your family. Once several have been constructed they may be joined to gether creating a row of “flags”. This is basically a hand stitching day using running and back stitch together with some embroidery.,you may only get one flag constructed , it is an on going project. A “Kantha” stitching project.
