Inspirational Indigo
Workshop Information
Indigo is such a magical colour, there is no other quite like it! During this fun workshop you will work individually with a selection of indigo dyed fabrics to begin a small wall hanging, cushion, bag or item of your own choice. A variety of techniques including free cut piecing, applique and free machine quilting will be demonstrated and discussed before I let you loose to play! This workshop is designed to use the fabrics dyed on the previous 2 days but it is not essential to have done the previous day workshop as long as you have some Indigo fabric to use.
Please bring the following:
Indigo Dyed fabrics, your own hand dyes and any other indigo dyed fabrics you have in your collection (African, Japanese etc) – an assortment of fat ¼’s and ½ metres to total no more than 3 metres (larger pieces may be used for borders).
Small amounts of contrast fabric in red, green or rust colour works well too. These can be plain or printed – Fat ¼’s of each should be sufficient.
Rotary Cutter, Mat and ruler/rulers
Sewing Machine (Don’t forget your instruction book and power lead and foot pedal!) and needles – I use top stitch 80’s, they are easy to thread!
Sewing kit – scissors, pins, stitch ripper etc
Dark blue sewing thread for piecing
2-3 reels machine quilting thread (include a blue, gold or copper coloured metallic) or hand quilting thread (thicker, sashiko style works best)
½ metre minimum each of backing fabric and wadding (the wadding can be used as a design wall while you are planning your piece)
½ metre maximum of Bond-a-Web in case you want to applique (optional)
Note Pad and pencil
Digital Camera (optional)
