Fabulous Finishes Piping, Binding & Facings
Award winning techniques to enable you to get the best possible finishes to the edges of your quilts. A variety of samples are sewn. Learn how to make and apply single and double rows of contrasting fabric covered piping. Achieve the neatest double folded binding with beautiful mitred corners and an invisible join. Make a faced edge sample with the most perfectly square ‘bulk free’ corners!
What you need to bring with you:

General purpose sewing thread.
Three or four different fat quarters of fabric. A chance to use up some old pieces from your stash!
Three quilt sandwiches with low loft wadding. Minimum size 12” x 12”. There’s no need to baste these sandwiches but you can if you wish!
Needles for machine and hand sewing.
Rotary cutter (with a good blade) and cutting mat.
Ruler minimum 18” long.
Quilters square or quilters’ triangular ‘ruler’.
A 1” x 6” ruler. This is essential for the piping technique.
Portable ironing surface and iron if available (not everyone will need their own iron and board).
Scissors for fabric and thread cutting.
Sewing machine and extension cord. Please be sure to bring your machine slide on table and knee bar if you have one. Include your machine manual.
Quarter inch foot.
Zipper foot.
Piping Foot if you have one.
Quilter’s safety pins and straight pins.
Notebook and pens.
Cushion to sit on if you wish.
Piping cord and detailed colour photocopies.
