Edge Stitch Foot.
This block is sewn much easier if you have an Edge Stitch Foot on your machine. If you are using a Bernina then it’s foot No. 10. If you have another brand of machine then you may wish to get one beforehand. You can do it with an normal foot but the Edge Stitch Foot gives you better view for the stitch line and you can stitch a little faster and still be very actuate.
Clover Bias Binder Maker.
This clever little tool enables you to make the most perfectly folded strips not only on the bias but also straight of grain. This block requires strips of fabric folded into ½ inch strips and it’s the Yellow one made by Clover which I use. These are available in Cowslips shop whilst stocks last. Priced about £8.95
Fabric. Squares.
Each block will require 25 squares of fabric 2 ½” x 2 ½” in coordinating colours.
This is a great way to use up lots of your scraps from your stash at home and you may want to cut your 2 ½ “ squares before you arrive.
My favourite choice is to use is to use either a jelly roll, charm pack or layer cake as they have already been put together as coordinating fabrics.
A charm pack which have 42 x 5” pieces of fabric, which will give you 168 squares.
Or if you are planning a bigger project such as a quilt, then a Layer cake is a good way to go as this will give you 672 squares. A jelly roll will give you even more.
Fabric for Trellis.
Choose a plain or very small printed fabric.
Do not choose a colour that is too light.
Medium to dark fabrics work best.
1 mtr fabric for the Trellis strips to make a cushion, a bag or a table runner.
1 ½ – 2 mtrs if making a quilt depending on the required size.
Alternatively, you may wish to decide on your Trellis fabric on the day and purchase from the shop.
