Branching Out

An opportunity to be creative with your fabrics and sewing machine through making a stitched
picture on the theme of a bird(s) in a tree. If you share my enthusiasm for those favourite
fragments of fabric and other ephemera that gather in the scrap bag and can’t bear to throw away,
this is an opportunity to transform some of them into a textile picture. Its also a way of exploring
some of those unused stitches on your machine and see others in a more creative light.
Do bring along an image of a favourite bird. Templates will be available or can be made on the day
for those nervous of drawing.
Student requirements:
Sewing Machine
A selection of fabrics and off-cuts/scrap-bag materials.
Scissors
Basic Sewing kit
Coloured sewing threads
Reference photos
Some Bondaweb or Heatbond (also available in the Cowslip Shop).
