Birdsong Jelly Roll Quilt

Make this stunning bird quilt (48in x 60in) using half-square triangles and flip-over corners – nothing difficult! This quilt is featured in our book Jelly Roll Quilts – The Classic Collection. There are six different bird blocks in the quilt so you can either make the quilt as shown or you could pick out a few of your favourite blocks and feature them as cushions to impress your family and friends.  We probably won’t get them all done in a day but you will learn the skills necessary to complete them all. You only need twenty 2½in strips so you can cut these from your stash if you like.
If you haven’t worked with jelly roll strips before you will learn how to use the clever Creative Grids 45/90 which is needed to make half-square triangles from 2½in strips. I will have some rulers available for use on the day and also some to purchase if required. Rotary cutting and machine sewing.

REQUIREMENTS
Sewing machine with a couple of full bobbins
Usual sewing kit
Rotary cutting equipment
Creative Grids 45/90 ruler or similar ruler for
cutting half-square triangles from strips. I will
have a few for you to use on the day and I will
bring some for you to buy.
Fabric Requirements for Birdsong Quilt (48in x 60in)
One jelly baby or twenty 2½in x 42in strips cut from your stash
Fat quarter yellow
Fat quarter red
Fat quarter white
2.75m background fabric
Small amount of back felt for eyes and fabric glue (optional)
