Abstract Spring Landscape

 Join Alison on this two day workshop where you will create your very own unique abstract Spring landscape textile artwork using a wide variety of textiles, free motion machine embroidery, embellishments and hand stitching. Alison will provide hands-on assistance, advice and demonstrations throughout, but some previous experience of free motion embroidery is advised. Learn how to choose and incorporate materials based on their weight, colour and pattern, and how to add interest and detail to your work with the use of hand stitching and embellishments. Your finished piece, although designed to be displayed in a frame, could be adapted to display as a wall hanging.

Piece of tarlatan scrim backing fabric cut to size
A piece of lightweight quilters wadding cut to size
Piece of adhesive mount board
Picture mount to work with and use when framing your finished piece.
Requirements list
A sewing machine that is adaptable for free motion stitching (you should be able to drop the feed dogs or have a plate to fit over the top of them so that they disengage). Please bring the manual if you have it.
Free motion / darning foot either open or closed toe that is compatible with your sewing machine.
A couple of spare bobbins that fit your machine.
Size 75 or 80 machine embroidery needles.
General sewing kit to include fabric scissors, small embroidery scissors, hand sewing needles and size 10 beading needles
A selection of hand embroidery threads.
A selection of machine threads either embroidery or sew all threads.
Reel of invisible thread suitable for use on a sewing machine (this can be purchased from me on the day).
White bobbin thread (this can be purchased from me on the day).
Frixion (heat erasable pen).
Alison will have a variety of threads available to use if needed.
