FRIENDSHIP BRAID JELLY ROLL QUILT

This quilt pattern was on the front cover of our first book and has remained a firm favourite ever since.  If you can find a jelly roll which has light and dark fabric then that is great but as you can see from our quilt, if you don’t have much variation between lights and darks it still works perfectly.
The braids are fun to sew and your quilt grows quickly.  Come and have a busy day sewing and by the end of the day you will be well on your way to finishing this beautiful quilt.

Sewing machine with a full bobbin
Normal sewing kit
Rotary cutting equipment
Creative Grids 45/90 ruler

Fabric requirement for Friendship Braid quilt
Size: 56in x 63in
one jelly roll or thirty 2½in x 42in strips
1.1m border fabric (not needed on the day)
50cms binding fabric (not needed on the day)
When choosing your jelly roll try to get one that has some difference in fabrics – either lights and darks or different colours.  This is only a guideline and you can choose any jelly roll if you love the fabrics. You only need thirty strips for the braids so this might be a good time to raid your fabric stash and cut your own strips – just a thought!
