Fantastical Seascape
Stormy seas, a mysterious lighthouse, all manner of sea creatures under a moody moonlit sky, could all come into play when creating a Fantastical Seascape. This 2 day workshop is an opportunity to stretch the imagination and be inspired by the dramatic possibilities of dyed fabrics and other scrap-bag materials to create a nautical wall hanging. There will be plenty of help and advice along the way and templates available for those nervous of design.
Fantastical Seascape Materials list
Sewing Machine
A good selection of coloured threads (bearing in mind the subject matter).
Some scrap-bag of materials and fabrics (natural fibres are good and not too heavy weight).Hopefully to swap and share.
Scissors
A hand sewing kit: pins, needle, thread, and a few silks for any finishing touches.
Some Bondaweb or Heatbond. There will be some available to purchase if needed.
Reference materials, if you have something specific in mind do bring a sketch, a reference book or a printout of your photo along.
I do not supply a Kit as such for my courses but for the Fantastical Seascape I can supply a fabric bundle of shibori dyed cotton/linens to help with the dramatic sea and sky effects (available at a cost of £6 to the tutor on the day). If you have any samples from dyeing workshops these would also be relevant.
I will supply participants with the backing at no extra charge.
